Year End Celebrations

The year end “Fun” Tournament and Awards Banquet for the 2009/2010 season will be held on Saturday April 10th. This is a great day for all members of the Castaways to come together and celebrate the great season we’ve had.


The day will consist of a fun indoor tournament held at the Oak Bay Indoor Turf from 10am-4pm followed by an awards banquet at the Comfort Hotel and Conference Centre (the same place as last year across the street from Finlayson).


The indoor tournament will be a mini world cup style. Players will be assigned to a team/country and are required to wear a shirt the color of the country. Teams/players are encouraged to accessorize their outfits and really get in the spirit of the country they are representing. You will be rewarded for your efforts and spirit. The tournament itself will consist of 3 round robin games and then proceed to playoffs where it will be single knockout. Team lists, rules and info will be sent out closer to the date. The lounge upstairs will be open for food and beverages. Absolutely no alcohol will be tolerated outside the lounge.


The awards banquet will start later that night allowing those participating in the tournament time to go home and shower before coming down. Doors will open at 6pm for you to get a table, enjoy a drink and mingle until dinner is served at 7pm. The buffet style menu caters to vegetarians as well as those meat eaters. The awards and presentations will start after everyone has eaten and usually last until roughly 9:30pm. We encourage everyone to make their way down to the clubhouse after the awards to continue celebrating the night. Please be responsible and walk to the club after having a few drinks or arrange for someone who has not consumed alcohol to drive. Please bring ID with you to both the banquet and clubhouse.


The cost to attend both the tournament and banquet is $20, $5 if you are just doing the tournament. Be sure to pay your coach/manager as soon as possible. We have limited seating so it will be first come first serve. Once you have paid, you will get a ticket to the event. Tickets must be presented at the door to the banquet. No ticket – No entry.


Friends and significant others are more than welcome to come down to the clubhouse after the awards banquet to celebrate, however, there will not be room for them to participate in the tournament or the banquet.
